The apartment symbolizes the client’s dreams and aspirations of returning to the country, settling down and enjoying their retired life in an abode where they could indulge not only themselves, but also share the experience in the company of family and friends.
As one enters the apartment via the plush Elevator lobby, a distinct zonal demarcation is visible between the public and private zones.
The day areas – which are more public in nature – beckon the users in with transparency being a major driving design tenet. Sliding doors allow the areas to have acoustic insulation and visual connection, while at the same time allowing the spaces to remain as individual and distinct as they are. The Living, Dining and the Kitchen thus can either act as one large, interconnected experience or be enclosed as spaces unto themselves.
The night areas or private spaces translate into four spacious and expansive ensuite bedrooms, which are tucked away and hidden from the public zones. Each bedroom has its own unique expression, but still feel united, and integrate into each other as a cohesive unit.
Warm textures run through the entire home which are offset by natural hues and greens. The serene lobby floor flows into the foyer, starting the experience as soon as one steps out of the elevator. The rich marble in the living room is complemented with pastel elevations, adding character and a sense of understated luxury. Italian wooden flooring brings warmth into the night areas with European wardrobes and appliances across the various rooms. Muted paneling on the walls spread across the entirety of the home, thus tying together each space – which has its own identity – into a cohesive whole.
The organic and methodical transition of spaces seek to emulate the evolution of the couple’s life by making them feel a sense of accomplishment, of their dreams and goals. ‘The 18th’ thus unfolds as a reflection of their narrative, an echo of their past and a poetic refrain for the future.
