Since its inception, the studio has flourished as a professional architecture and design house. Our projects have continued to embody a strong sense of place and the identity – attributes which the studio relates with and which we strive to achieve.
From collaborating to experimenting, and constantly questioning the status quo – the studio seeks conviction in its processes with an added dimension of empathy. Puran Kumar – Principal at Studio PKA – believes in creating spaces that exude a strong sense of place and identity. Now more than 30 years into the practice, Puran continues to explore and adopt fresh, innovative and exciting new ways of breathing life into the wide gamut of projects that come his way.
From Corporate Interiors to Residential Spaces and explorations in Adaptive – Re-Use, Puran’s repertoire of architecture and interior projects is as wide as it is simple.
Studio PKA, located within the Art District in Fort, Mumbai, is breaking new ground as it expands, evolves its design language and ventures out in search of new typologies.

‘Project Awas’ is a finalist in the Unbuilt (Culture) Category at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) which is one of the most prestigious events dedicated to the architecture and development industry.
The project is in continuation. An idea that found its roots in the mind of a connoisseur of art, and stemmed in the heart of an altruist. The unending insatiable hunt to unearth talent led to its conception.

‘The Loft | Redefined’ won the Commercial – Interior (Large) Category.
The Loft | Redefined takes the concept of Adaptive Re-Use a step further by recycling elements and materials of the original studio space – signifying the task of carefully dismantling, re-using, and ultimately re-purposing the existing components of the design.

‘The Shell’ was the runner-up in the Sustainable Design of the Year 2021 Category.
The Shell is a design lab and a pavilion that has been developed as a dedicated space to create, celebrate design & initiate dialogue. The unique setting of Awas Village in Alibaug provides the possibility of identifying and documenting areas for research and engaging with local and traditional techniques.

Inspired by the intangible and tangible aspects of the studio, the collection is a confluence of art, architecture, and culture - infusing the ethos and philosophy of the design house and depicting it through its works as well as taking inspiration from its physical location within the Art District in South Bombay, respectively.

The third edition of AD50 was an endeavour to spotlight the best in residential design across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
