Lighthouse
Lighthouse is a space that encourages both quiet focus and open exchange, where design supports not just how people work, but how they feel while doing so.
Located in South Mumbai, Lighthouse is a 4,000 sq. ft. workspace envisioned for a Private Equity firm, designed not just as an office, but as an environment that quietly supports focus, dialogue, and decision-making. At its core, the project draws from the idea of a lighthouse: a steady presence that offers direction and clarity amidst chaos.
A space program that calls for disparate yet visually interconnected spaces which include the Front Office, Lounge, Meeting Rooms, Collab Zone, Open Office and Pantry. Sightlines are carefully considered, allowing movement and interaction to feel fluid, and reinforcing a subtle sense of collective purpose across the workplace.
The character of Lighthouse emerges through its details. Bespoke furniture pieces are designed to feel intentional yet understated, complemented by a carefully curated selection of art and soft furnishings. These layers introduce moments of pause and personality, making the workspace feel less transactional and more lived-in.
Materiality plays a key role in shaping this experience. A warm, grounded palette sets the tone, moving away from the starkness. Surfaces shift gently between textures, the rawness of plaster walls, the smooth precision of painted finishes, the quiet luxury of marble, and the natural warmth of wooden flooring.
Together, these elements create a tactile richness that makes the space feel both sophisticated and approachable.
Lighting, in particular, becomes a defining feature of the project. Custom-designed and hand-crafted fixtures are placed throughout the space, not just to illuminate but to anchor it. Acting as sculptural elements, they draw attention, spark conversation, and subtly reinforce the identity of the workspace.
Accents of vibrant colors, potentially in the collection of rugs chosen from Studio Pka’s Elemental collection and the Theseus are used sparingly to inject energy and highlight cultural expansion. The decorative lighting transforms the environment through colour and intensity.
The thoughtful integration of the various ideologies creates a cohesive design language that bridges the past and present. This balanced approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also supports the functionality and comfort of the office studio, making it a vibrant and engaging environment for work.
